Obstacle Racing in the Olympics?

Obstacle racing has quickly become one of the largest events in the US and is branching out to other countries across the globe.

There’s Warrior Dash, Tough Mudder, Superhero Scramble, Ninja Warrior, Primal Mud Run, Rugged Maniac, USMC Mud Run, GoRuck Challenges, and there are more popping up every month it seems.

Can you think of any other sport that combines Strength, Speed, Agility, and Endurance like Obstacle Racing?  I wrestled through High School, played soccer, basketball, and baseball all of my life.  Of all the sports I have played or participated in, wrestling was the most demanding until now.  I’ve been training for and racing in these new Obstacle Races for about a year now and they are brutal.

I’ve spent countless hours running 3 to 8 to 11 miles with a weight vest.  Pullups with a weight vest.  Planks, situps, leg raises, push ups, burpees, climbing hills, jogging with a 45 lb. rock, dips, and on and on and on to get faster and stronger for these Obstacle races.  I can honestly say I’m in the best shape of my life.  But is there a future in the Olympics for an Obstacle Race as a Sport?  Or do you think we’ll MMA first….
