My name is Ashleigh and I love to run.
I am so incredibly thrilled to be a part of this wonderful blog and community. I am honored to have this opportunity and look forward to sharing my training with you all.
If you have checked out my profile over on the main ICEdot athletes site, you will have read a little snipit about my thoughts on running and why it is important to me. I mention that running is my therapy. I state, “I live for it. I can set out on foot and sort through all of life’s triumphs and tribulations, arriving back at home feeling more balanced and at peace. While it is true that running is a great way to get into and stay in shape, for me it is so much more than that. It keeps my mind at ease and my body healthy.”
I’ve been running for a little over 6 years now and in that time have done several races. While I would love to run tons and tons of races each year, my wallet couldn’t handle it! It is my goal run two major events per year. Usually one in the fall and one in the spring. In my running career to date, I have completed…
- The Oklahoma City Half Marathon (2007, 2010, 2011)
- The New York City Marathon (2008)
- The Austin 3M Half Marathon (2010)
- The Tulsa Route 66 Half Marathon (2011)
As you can see, I’ve really been focusing on the half-marathon and am currently hoping to beat my PR of 1:53:43. My next chance will be in April at the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon. I’ll officially kick off training in the next few weeks and I cannot wait! As for the full marathon, I fully intend to run at least a few more. I’ve got a couple of marathon bucket list races I want to complete but I’ve done New York…does it honestly even get any better?!
In a nutshell, during my time here as an sponsored ICEdot athlete, I plan to share my knowledge and experiences regarding all things training including workouts, cross training, and nutrition. With that being said, if there is anything in particular you would like addressed, please let me know in the comments section! I’d be happy to include it!
If you’re interested in getting to know a little more about me, head on over to my personal blog, Simple Honest Real. There I blog about both running and wholesome, good for you recipes.
See you all next time with my training plan and some ideas for pre-run fuel!
